Gen. 1:12
“And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb yielding seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for food.”
This is a promise of God to everyone of us that I believe. We are granted as a stewards and to labour so we could enjoy His blessing.
One of my favorite activities during the day is putting my hands in the dirt, digging, weeding, or planting, creating something wonderful and meaningful even just a little bit of time. My mind is eager to know if there is anything I could do to help improve the garden. In this article, I will share some of the reasons why I love Gardening…
Isaiah 55:12 ESV
“For you shall go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and the hills before you shall break forth into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.”
1. To enjoy nature
Exodus 35:35 ESV
“He has filled them with skill to do every sort of work done by an engraver or by a designer or by an embroiderer in blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen, or by a weaver—by any sort of workman or skilled designer.“
2. To cultivate creativity
Gardening has to be in the right place with the right sunlight, this is one of the basic knowledge of the Gardeners to know where is the right spot, or the right pot, the right season to plant, and the right kind of soil. God is very mindful of his creation and He knows every detail about me and what I could do. We all need to express ourselves creatively, and gardening is one way to do that.
Colossians 3:23 ESV
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,“
3. To revel in a job well done
It is satisfying to finish a job and realize the results are good. It’s not about how hard and long I spend on it to be finished, but knowing that when it is completed my reward is beyond all I could have imagined. The task also gives satisfaction. We exciting wait for those first blooms from bulbs we weren’t sure would grow. It’s great when the first ripe tomato is ready for picking. The beauty the flowers add to our home, or the fresh food we put on our table is tangible proof of time well spent.
I might be exaggerating here, but truly our God the creator of heaven and earth and everything in it is inviting us to be good stewards of his Blessing and Enjoy it to the fullest. Start planting now and wait with an expectant heart. God will show you how mighty He is when the first buds emerge.
